HYTARC TVET COLLEGE

In 2000, Michael Goro founded the Highlands Youth Training & Rehabilitation College (HYTARC TVET College) with a simple but powerful vision—to create opportunities for young Papua New Guineans through education, skills training, and personal development.

Having witnessed many capable young people miss out on formal education due to financial hardship, limited opportunities, or other life circumstances, Michael believed that every individual deserved a second chance to learn, grow, and build a better future. Rather than accepting these challenges as permanent, he chose to become part of the solution.

What began as a small initiative has grown into a respected technical and vocational education institution, with its main boarding campus located in Banz, North Waghi District, and learning centres serving students in different parts of Papua New Guinea. Over the years, HYTARC has provided practical, industry-focused training designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for employment, entrepreneurship, and lifelong success.

Under Michael Goro's leadership, HYTARC has remained committed to empowering school leavers, unemployed youth, and adults seeking new opportunities through quality technical and vocational education. The college continues to build partnerships with government agencies, industry, churches, communities, and development organisations to expand access to education and create meaningful pathways for students.

Today, HYTARC stands as a reflection of Michael Goro's lifelong belief that education has the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and build a better Papua New Guinea.

Situated in Banz, North Waghi District, Jiwaka Province, the Banz Main Campus is the birthplace and flagship campus of Highlands Youth Training & Rehabilitation College (HYTARC TVET College). Established in 2000, the campus was founded with a vision to provide practical education and skills training that would transform lives and create opportunities for Papua New Guineans. 

Located in Boroko, Port Moresby, the HYTARC TVET College Port Moresby Campus serves as the college's administrative and student support hub in the National Capital District. The campus provides accessible education and training opportunities for students from Port Moresby and surrounding provinces who aspire to build successful careers through practical, industry-focused education.
