Some people allow life's challenges to define their future. Michael Goro chose a different path.

Living with a physical disability never stopped him from pursuing his passion for education and community development. Instead, it strengthened his determination to help others overcome the barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential. What others saw as a limitation, he transformed into a lifelong commitment to service, proving that true leadership is measured by resilience, compassion, and action.

Rather than accepting the reality that many young Papua New Guineans were leaving school without opportunities, Michael founded Highlands Youth Training & Rehabilitation College (HYTARC TVET College) with a vision of providing practical education, skills training, and hope to those seeking a second chance. What began as a small initiative has grown into an institution that has positively impacted thousands of lives across Papua New Guinea.

For Michael, education has never been simply about qualifications. It is about restoring confidence, building character, developing practical skills, and empowering individuals to create a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities.

His journey demonstrates that leadership is not determined by circumstances but by the courage to rise above them. Every student who graduates, every partnership that creates new opportunities, and every life transformed reflects his belief that lasting development begins by investing in people.
